AUGUST UPDATE!!!!!!

Posted in 1 on August 6, 2009 by kilamanjaro2010fundraising

Well this has been a great month, our Bachelor and Bachelorette auction was awesome! Even I got auctioned off to one lucky lady for £50.00!! We raised £600.00 form this, thank you to all who took part and made the night a great success. I will post a link to the photos as there are too many to upload here. I’ve posted 3 below just to show how the night went. Id like to say a great big thank you to all who helped: Reflex for the venue, Print my flyer for the awesome banner, The bachelors and Bachelorettes J also thanks to Claire Malkin & Tony O’neill without them this night wouldn’t have been possible!!!

Our next event planned is Raise the Volume at The Hop on Saturday 22nd August! It’s coming up fast. Confirmed bands are Goggle Eye Psycho, Vida Cartel, Will Richards and Ditch Divers more to be confirmed. The day starts at 15:30 and through till 22:30 when Kinky Indie will take you through to the wee hours with Rock Zombie! Each band has a set of 40 minutes so plenty of time to hear your favourite!!! Hopefully we will have some prizes up for raffle, but this will be confirmed on the day. Its £2.50 in all proceeds goes to Scope. We are working with Diamond Studios and The Hop to make this as a successful event as can be, if anyone wants to get involved or wants to know more feel free to mail me on fundraising@mtkilimanjaro2010.com also we have support form Jagermeister so maybe some t-shirts and drinks up for grabs. More to be confirmed on the day though! Get yourselves down for a great day! And if the sun is out it will be an even better day!!!

Thank you to all who are helping us, we still need more donations and sponsors our online sponsor site is www.justgiving.com/roberthawlor £7000 is still a very very long way away! So please help us

funraising update 07/07/09

SCOPE-BACHELOR-AUCTION-BANNERwell its been a long few weeks and i thought i best update our blog.

our charity bachelor and bachelorette auction is going great! we are just waiting  on confirmation on names and numbers… we have had prizes donated and they’re still coming in, so far we have mens and women’s t shirts donated by retro website truffle shuffle! a signed castleford tigers rugby ball! Nando’s meal vouchers! colour and cut by a stylist salon in Dewsbury and 4 tickets to watch Countdown being recorded at ITV studios…. we still are hoping for more to come in. we are also grateful for Wakefield express covering our story, interview and picture to be done on the 13-14 July, so we are a bit nervous about that. we have commissioned a banner which is being printed and shipped to us, this should look something like the one at the top of the page!!! This is to be displayed inside or outside of Reflex! I’m very chuffed with this so thanks to the great guys at “Print my Flyer” the artwork looks amazing!!!!
Also managed to get 5000 flyers donated by Printing.Local the guys have been a great help as we had no idea designing a flyer could be so hard! just waiting for the artwork to be completed :)
we have also thought of a theme for the Bachelor auction which is Baywatch as this was the best bit of the early 80’s and 90’s and fits in nicely with reflex 80’s theme.

MAJOR UPDATE ON THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS!!!!

our last update was regarding a start on this event, we now have a confirmed venue, Date, and luckily BANDS!!!!!!  we have been working closely with The Hop and Diamond Studios who have helped us out tremendously! and especially a thank you to Gav Palmer, who without his knowledge and skills this would have been left in the proverbial potting shed!  we are awaiting bands to confirm, but all is going well. we are not having a “battle of the bands” as all the bands that we have are good in their own way, so we are having a Rock fest kind of event! the name we have decided is “Raise the Volume” this will consist of 7-8 bands doing a 40 minute set each with  raffles in between, all kicks off at 15:30 on Saturday 22nd August!  till 22:30!!
After 22:30 Kinkie Indie take over with Rock Zombie till 02:30!!!!!!
Even though we have all this we are still trying to do more for the days event! all this to keep the public happy! :)
Stage-Pro, Diamond Studios and The Hop have all been great and these events couldn’t be possible without all their help and support
Thank You………….

Second Week of fundraising

Posted in 1 on June 3, 2009 by kilamanjaro2010fundraising

well after lots of number crunching, this is going to take a long time. on the upside we have reached a grand total of £120.00 in sponsors, a very warm thanks to the people who sponsored us.
Looking at events and things we can do to get more sponsorships in, somewhere in the pipeline we are going to be holding a charity evening in wakefield somewhere… there will be raffles, prizes and there is the possibility of getting a 2 girl vocal group to do a turn. Dates to be confirmed but please keep checking back.
I tried getting a bit of advertisement from the local radio but unfortunately they are tied to specific charities so were unnable to help us out 80(
back to the drawing board….

day 2 of fundraising

Posted in 1 with tags , , , , , , , on May 29, 2009 by kilamanjaro2010fundraising

well im not working today so gives me time to brainstorm on how we can raise funds… the headshaving thing???

Now everyone knows i love my hair (i really do) but i suppose if its for a good cause then its a worthy reason to do it, hope its grown back by the time we do the trek???? or maybe i should just get th clippers on dawns hair? NOW I WOULD PAY TO SEE THAT! bless. somehow i dont think she will go for that….

right.. possibilities for fundraisers:

a charity evening: need a place, advertisement, games?? raffles..

hmmm wonder if i can get 10 gym bunnies to let us raffle them off for a night out with 10 lucky winners??? actually is that illegal? ….ummm best not.

we’ll put that on the back burner for now! lol

oh fitness!!!!!!

Now i fail to mention that me and dawn both work in an offiice sat at desks.. so anyone who works in an office who doesnt go to a gym will adamantly agree that you tend to munch allot,  dawn is the lucky one of us both as she is slim! *jealous*  not that im overweight or anything, but i could do with toning up. maybe i should start exercising regularly?

hmmm, we tipped upon going for a run every sunday morning. going to have to start that!!

BACK TO IDEAS!!!! hmmm this is quite hard!???

wonder if the local paper will advertise the charity trek for free and see if we can raise funds via that avenue aswell….. anyone with any ideas all will be greatly appreciated by us both.  80)

Climbing for a better Life…

Posted in DIARY STARTING 28/05/09 on May 28, 2009 by kilamanjaro2010fundraising

hi welcome to our blog page

Our names are Rob Hawlor and Dawn Jones, were both from wakefield and are hoping to take on the highest mountain in Africa. mt kilimanjaro. were hoping to do this with the help of you, the reader, our aim is to raise £7,000.00 for the charity Scope, which goes to pay for care for sufferers of cerebral palsy. we are starting this now as the deadline for all sponsorship monies is the end of November, The trek/Hike takes palce Jan 28th 2010.

here is the link for our secure sponsor site http://www.justgiving.com/roberthawlor

Every 6 hours a child is born with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is the most commonly diagnosed physical condition in the UK, and occurs around the time of birth when part of the brain fails to develop properly. It can happen to any child. Scope is the largest charity in the UK working with people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers.

By doing a sponsored hike we will be donating as much as we can to scope and the families that are touched by cerebral palsy.

this blog will be updated weekly with pics, comments and keeping track of how we are doing with the funding, and in the weeks/months to come the events we are holding which just pay possibly include a sponsored head shave…. (i do this only for charity)… we can only do this by getting sponsors so if you donate a penny or a pound every little helps…..
